"Garmin has engineered the GPS76, GPSMAP76, and the GPSMAP76S from the inside-out to withstand the harsh marine and outdoor environment. The case is waterproof, even if submerged, and it will keep the GPS afloat if dropped overboard. All of the units are designed to provide precise GPS positioning using correction data from the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) with position accuracy to less than three meters. The GPS76 features 1 MB of internal memory to be used for storing downloaded points of interest and is preloaded with worldwide cities, nautical aids, and tide data for the U.S. The GPSMAP76 comes with a built-in base map of cities, coastlines, lakes, rivers, interstates, and a database of nautical navaids. In addition, it has an internal capacity of 8 MB of internal user memory for storing optional MapSource cartography. The memory is also preloaded with worldwide cities, nautical aids, and tide data for the U.S. The GPSMAP76S has all the features of the GPSMAP76 plus barometric altimeter and an electronic compass that delivers precise location, elevation, and bearing information. It also features 24 MB of internal storage, ideal for loading detailed marine maps from the BlueChart CD. All three units feature an extra large display measuring 1.6"W x 2.2"H.
